Archaeology for Children
Create - Connect- Communicate
We began our activities for children on the 19th of February 1999, at the Ellen Sharma Memorial Matriculation School, at Sholinganallore, 30 km outside Chennai. The little children's museum was called the Sharma Children's Museum.
From then on, we have grown and expanded our activities to include in-house and travelling workshops and exhibitions for children, teachers and the interested public.
Check out our museum project on the CII CSR Gateway. Read more in our publications.
One of the key aims of this education space is to enable children to enjoy learning outside the school environment and to have fun in a creative and challenging environment. We have special free programs for underprivileged children from urban and rural areas. We also believe in inclusive education and cater to special challenged children as well.
Our Objectives
Create a unique museum environment to enhance children’s learning experiences in the field of Indian heritage, to encourage creativity and skill development and enhance imagination through wel l-conceived displays, exhibits and learning modules;
Connect scientists and children through interaction with research scholars at and visiting the SCHE;
Communicate cutting-edge research by SCHE and others in the field of archaeology and past environments to children, teachers, and corporates.
