These are prehistoric tools made of stone. The images you see above are called Cleavers. The one below is called a Handaxe. They are from a site which we are excavating called Attirampakkam,  in Tamil Nadu, South India.

 

 This tool is called a Handaxe. You can see it lying on ancient sediments from where we dug it out.

All these tools were used by Stone Age people more than 1.5 million years ago.

Can you see the black and white scale? Each unit is one centimeter in length. It gives you an idea of how big the tool is.
