S. Udayakumar

Intern:  Interested in ancient and traditional metal technology, art and architecture, lost wax methods of bronze technology and children's education.

S. Udayakumar, is an intern (honorary) at our Centre. He is a skilled sculptor, trained from a young age in the traditional and ancient craft of the lost wax method of bronze technology. He completed his BFA in Fine Arts from the Government College for Architecture and Sculpture, University of Madras and his Master's Degree in Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology from the Deccan College Postgraduate and Research Institute, Pune, on iron technology.  He is currently completing his Ph.D in Archaeology at the Deccan College, Pune, and is an ICHR Junior Research Fellow. He has participated in excavations at the Harappan site of Farmana, Haryana and Kotada Badli, Gujarat, as also in field surveys and test pits at the microlithic site of Sawyerpuram, Tamil Nadu, as also in field trips for art, architecture and museology in Madhya Pradesh.  His bachelor's dissertation was on 'Sri Chakra' and a Master's dissertation on 'The Art And Science Of Bronze Technology In Tamil Nadu: Traditional Wisdom And Current Perspectives', as also a dissertation on; Traditional wisdom and current perspective of bronze technology in Tamil Nadu; with special reference to Tanjore district; a thesis submitted to Nehru Trust Small Study Research Grant, Delhi.  He has participated in numerous conferences, and presented papers on his work.

Dr. Shanti Pappu

Founder/Secretary, with interests in prehistory, palaeoenvironments, ethnoarchaeology, history of archaeology. Degree in law with specialization in cultural heritage laws of India. Involved in education for underprivileged children. She also holds the post of Professor of Prehistory at the Deccan College Postgraduate & Research Institute.
